Where Broadway's Greatest Stories Come Alive

A Shubert landmark at 1681 Broadway, delivering world-class theatre to New York City since 1924.

About Us

The marquee has blazed above 1681 Broadway for a century — and inside, every detail still earns that glow. The Broadway Theatre opened in 1924 as one of the crown jewels of the Shubert Organization, and its art-deco bones, soaring ceiling, and grand sightlines have made it home to some of the most talked-about productions in New York history.

Guests consistently rave about the warmth of the staff, the surprising spaciousness of the box seats, and the meticulous cleanliness that makes every visit feel like opening night. The house was even raised several feet in a landmark renovation — a structural feat that speaks to how seriously this theatre takes its future without forgetting its past. Whether you land in the orchestra, the mezzanine, or one of those beloved boxes, the Broadway Theatre wraps you in an atmosphere that feels equal parts museum and living stage.

A 4.7-star rating across more than 5,000 reviews isn't an accident. It's the result of a century of craft, care, and the kind of theatrical magic that only a room like this can conjure. This is where spectacle lives.

What We Offer

The Broadway Theatre hosts the full range of what New York's premier stage world has to offer — from sweeping musical productions with jaw-dropping sets and choreography, to intimate dramatic works that fill every seat with hushed anticipation. Recent productions like The Great Gatsby have drawn audiences back night after night, thanks to intricate costume design, immersive stagecraft, and casts of exceptional talent.

Beyond the performance itself, the theatre experience here includes accessible seating options, a range of ticket tiers from orchestra to box seats, and a front-of-house team known for going the extra mile. Group bookings, premium seat selection, and special event packages are available through the Shubert Organization — making it easy to plan everything from a birthday celebration to a corporate night out on Broadway.

Practical tip from seasoned attendees: bring a light jacket for the famously crisp air conditioning, and arrive early enough to soak in the art-deco interior before the house lights dim.

"Amazing that they raised this theatre up several feet! A few tips if you see a show here. 1) bring a jacket... The AC is very very cold 2) beware of the overhang... The theatre is very tall and the mezzanine blocks some views of the top of the stage if you are in the back rows of the orchestra seats"

"Wonderful history & arts at this theatre. I was able to enjoy The Great Gatsby— which was performed exquisitely. The actors were top notch & the whole set was super immersive. If I were ever visiting NYC, I’d highly recommend taking the time to watch a show. Major kudos to all the musicians and logistics stage personnel it takes to pull this masterful performance together seamlessly. If there is one thing I would criticize though, it’s actually the lack of concessions available. They do sell alcohol & soft drinks, plus candy & pringles— but nothing else. Personally, I feel adding select food items (like hot dogs or pizza) can add to the experience since people may come hungry but are not allowed to bring outside food. Regardless— check out a show!"

"What a classy and charming theater. History was dripping from this place and it tingled with the energy of past performances. Seats are a little narrow, but then again, people tended to be smaller, shorter and thinner back when it was constructed. Nonetheless, it was comfortable and it didn't take away from enjoying the show."
